Where to Go When You Need a Hand

The Guide Center collects the recurring jobs that keep going long after the moving boxes are gone, so you can find the right note without scrolling through everything.

Nothing here is a sponsored ranking. If a question is not covered yet, the reader mail column is the place to send it, and selected questions may be answered in a future post.

Send a question to the mail column

Questions about transport, day-to-day costs or settling into a new neighbourhood are welcome. Write in your own words, and if the question is not published it can still be answered privately.

The contact page holds the only form on the site. It asks for your first name, an email address, an optional province, the topic your question falls under, the question itself, and permission to publish it.

Reach the editorial desk

For corrections, a note about something that has changed in your area, or a topic you think deserves a longer piece, write to the editorial address below.

Before you write in

A few practical notes help your question land in the right column. Mention the province you live in, since costs and services differ between regions, and say whether you are still planning a move or already settled.

If your question touches on paperwork, it helps to name the kind of document involved, such as a levy schedule or a municipal account, without sending the document itself.

How your details are handled is set out in the privacy policy, and the terms cover the basis on which reader questions may be published.

Where to reach us between the checklists

The Guide Center gathers the routines that keep going after a move, and the same address handles the reader mail column. If a question about levies, garden upkeep or household paperwork is not answered in the notes, send it through one of the channels below.

The usual route for reader questions, corrections and notes on a column that needs a follow-up.

Before you write

The mail column works best with specifics: which province you live in, whether the question is about a levy schedule, a garden that has become too much work, or paperwork that is still sitting in a box. Questions about transport in a new neighbourhood and day-to-day costs are welcome too. Nothing here is a sponsored ranking, so a question about a particular village or service is answered on the same terms as any other.

If you would like your question considered for the column, say so when you write. Otherwise it stays a private exchange.

Send a question for the reader mail column

The mail column exists for the questions that do not fit neatly into a single guide. If you are weighing up a levy schedule, wondering how often a gardener should come, or trying to work out transport in a neighbourhood you have just moved into, that is exactly the kind of thing worth writing in about.

Useful questions tend to include a little context: the province you live in, whether you are still in the family home or already moved, and what you have already tried. You do not need to have the answer worked out. A clear description of the situation is enough for us to take it further.

Questions about downsizing, village levies, garden and home upkeep, staying in touch with family abroad, household paperwork and settling into a new neighbourhood are all welcome. Selected questions may appear in a future column, and you can say whether you are happy for yours to be published.

Where to send it

The contact page holds the reader question form. It asks for your first name, an email address, your province, the topic your question falls under, the question itself, and your permission to publish it.
